Slide show-lecture

Has anyone had Michael Tougias present at their library? He has several slide show/lecture programs on a variety of topics that look pretty interesting. My community responded very well to a slide lecture presented last fall by Boston by Foot and I would like to schedule more of this type of program. Any other suggestions?

The Plymouth Garden Club had him years ago when he talked about his latest book traveling through MA. He was good. He wasn't the most dynamic speaker but he had a captive audience.

We've had Mike speak at Norton a few times and everyone always enjoys him. He has done slide lectures on the Quabbin Reservoir, There's a Porcupine in my Outhouse, King Philip's War, Quiet Places of MA and N.E. Wild Places and Forgotten History. His delivery is quiet and unassuming. He will bring books to sell and autograph if you wish.

We also have had Bill Patton Jr. do slide shows on the Vermont Quilt Festival and Highlights of the Boston Flower Show.

Cohasset had Mike speak about his book Ten Hours Until Dawn about a year ago. We had about 30 people (a crowd for us). He came fully prepared with equipment and audio tapes complimenting the book. He was comfortable in front of an audience and made time to answer questions before and after the presentation.

Does Michael Tougias have a standard fee for a slide-lecture or is it negotiated? Does he have a special rate for libraries (vs. other types of organizations) sponsoring the program?

I have Michael speak once each year. All his programs have been interesting and have drawn a good crowd. I think he has "groupies" that follow his lectures. He is very professional and personable. Although he is not cheap, I can highly recommend him.
