I would like to pose a question to this group as SEMLS prepares to make some improvements to the statewide performer directory.Although adult programming has been included in the directory, the majority of the records are for children's programs, and I believe most of the use has been by youth services librarians.
We are planning to add/delete/modify the categories currently used in the directory, and I'm seeking suggestions for categories that should be added. We would really like to round out the directory so that librarians planning adult programs find it as useful as those who are planning children's programs.
We are also exploring the ideas for adding sub-categories to certain categories, such as authors, to make it more useful. Could you envision using subcategories for any of the other categories?
You can see the current categories by visiting the directory at www.semls.org/performer/index.asp.
Thanks!

The notation "Grade 3 and up" is not very helpful when planning adult programs. It could mean up to grade 12. I'd like to see the category "costumed interpreters." If you had a whole section for only adults, that would be great for us, but lots of duplication, I would imagine. If you put a sub-category of "adult," would that be helpful?
