Spring roundtable on March 24

This month's discussion will focus on collaborative programming. Megan Allen, Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy, will share her experiences in collaborating with a variety of other groups, including other city departments, non-profit service organizations, for-profit organizations and grassroots citizen groups.  She will tell us she has tried a little bit of everything and it pretty much all works! Be sure to bring your own experiences to share with the group along with information on any program that have been very successful for you in the past year.

Adrienne Latimer:

At the prompting of Cheryl Bryan, here is the draft of the press release for our Earth Day program at the Falmouth Public Library.
Celebrate Earth Day! Eat Fresh, Buy Local! Are you ready to give up on what comes from the food industry(!) ? On Wednesday, April 22, at 7 pm, the Falmouth Public Library is hosting a panel of local food experts. Learn how to find fresh and healthful food provided by local growers. Our Eat Local panelists will share their knowledge, experience and wisdom of the growing locavore movement. On hand will be Doug and Dianne Langeland who publish Edible Cape Cod magazine (as well as Edible Boston and Edible South Shore). Ron Smolowitz of the Coonamessett Farm in Hatchville will talk about his farm’s new CSA initiative (Community Supported Agriculture). Karen Schwalbe a small farmer in Falmouth is on the board of the Falmouth Farmers’ Market, and is also the local representative of NOFA (Northeast Organic Farmers’ Association). Carol McManus is an Edgartown restaurateur, and author of: Table Talk: Food, Family, Love, a Cookbook. Eating locally produced foodstuffs helps the local economy, and greatly reduces the energy consumption required to bring fresh food to our tables. Come and find out more.
