Harris County Public Library - Internet Explorer Toolbar

I found this great toolbar through Tame the Web and LISNews. The Harris County Public Library - Internet Explorer Toolbar gives quick access to searching the library's catalog, searching the Internet, and links to book rewewals, among other things. What a great way to provide quick access to a library's electronic resources!

Podcasting at the library?

Those of you who attended Linda Braun's first Emerging Technologies workshop last week learned a lot about using RSS feeds to keep up to date on news and other information. Of course, just when you're starting to feel comfortable with a new technology, something new always come along. Several librarian bloggers are starting to experiment with podcasts as a way to disseminate information. Podcasts work very much like RSS feeds, but are audio files sent out to iPods. If you don't use an iPod, you can still listen to the Podcasts as long as you have Windows Media Player installed on your computers. My question is: how can libraries use Podcasts to get information out to their patrons, particularly those teenagers who are the most likely to have an iPod? I would love to see your thoughts.
